    STEM Trainee Opportunity at UNOPS – Abuja, Nigeria

    The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is inviting applications for its STEM Trainee Programme in Abuja, Nigeria.     Role Purpose

    Under the supervision of the Programme Manager (Gender & Youth), selected STEM Trainees will support key energy access initiatives led by SEforALL (Sustainable Energy for All) in Nigeria. The role focuses on providing technical assistance, supporting renewable energy financing mechanisms, and contributing to data-driven energy planning.

    Key Responsibilities

    Technical Support & Operations

    • Provide technical support for gender- and youth-responsive energy projects
    • Assist in coordinating project activities, meetings, and implementation processes
    • Participate in energy audits, field visits, and needs assessments

    Financial Platform Support & Training

    • Support the Sustainable Energy Finance Developers Platform by validating and refining project data
    • Assist in developing training materials for developers, financial institutions, and policymakers
    • Contribute to financial modelling and analysis of energy project funding structures
    • Track financing commitments and emerging clean energy funding opportunities

    Monitoring & Data Analysis

    • Support data collection, market research, and climate finance trend analysis
    • Assist in monitoring platform performance and user experience
    • Contribute to reporting and evaluation of project outcomes

    Climate Finance, Policy & Advocacy

    • Participate in initiatives promoting sustainable energy finance
    • Support stakeholder engagement and policy advocacy efforts
    • Gain insights into financial instruments and project viability within the energy sector

    Communications & Social Media

    • Create and manage engaging digital content across platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and X
    • Support awareness campaigns and promote sustainability initiatives

    Training & Learning Opportunities

    Eligibility Criteria

    Education Requirements:

    • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated (within 3 years) from a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD programme
    • Field of study must be in STEM (e.g., engineering, renewable energy, data science, GIS, or related disciplines)

    Experience Requirements:

    • No prior work experience is required
    • Relevant exposure in energy, engineering, finance, or communications is an added advantage
