    Position Summary

    Reporting to the Director of Communications and Engagement, the Community Engagement Manager leads ICA’s community outreach and engagement efforts, overseeing Community Engagement Coordinators.

    The role involves building strategic relationships with Indigenous communities across Canada, fostering collaboration, and amplifying community voices through various engagement channels, including online, in-person, and events.

    The manager will work closely with campaigns, communications, and program teams to develop and implement strategies that support ICA’s mission, focusing on relationship-building, community consultation, and event coordination.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement community engagement strategies targeting First Nation, Inuit, and Métis communities across Canada.
    • Gather community stories, insights, and feedback through surveys, interviews, webinars, and gatherings to inform ICA programming.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to create strategies, tools, and resources that meet the needs of frontline communities.

    • Promote Indigenous community stories and calls to action via newsletters, websites, and social media.
    • Lead planning and execution of community gatherings, donor events, and fundraising initiatives.
    • Maintain and grow ICA’s contact lists, utilizing best practices for outreach and engagement.
    • Support recruitment efforts for ICA staff and contractors.

    • Represent ICA at external events to promote programs and build partnerships.
    • Nurture relationships with community partners and maintain a calendar of outreach activities.
    • Engage with ICA’s internal network, including staff, the National Steering Committee, Board, and Youth Leadership Council.
    • Assist with internal and external communication, event planning, and other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in community organizing and partnership building.
    • Existing relationships with Indigenous communities supporting climate solutions across Canada.
    • Proven experience managing staff and contractors.
    • Demonstrated success in hosting and planning community gatherings.

    • Strong understanding of budgets, tracking, and reporting expenses.
    • Proficiency with digital tools including Zoom, Slack, Google Suite, Asana, and CRM systems.
    • Experience working with Indigenous-led organizations and knowledge of anti-oppression principles.
    • Broad familiarity with climate and environmental digital platforms and social media.

    • Strong relationship-building skills, with ability to navigate diverse opinions within communities.
    • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
    • Member of an Indigenous community and fluency in an Indigenous language is an asset.
    • Reliable internet and a working computer are essential.
