Overview

The Megatrends Afrika project is offering three research fellowships for African scholars in collaboration with the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS), and the Kiel Institute for the World Economy. The initiative aims to support African researchers in producing policy-relevant academic work and strengthening the continent’s research ecosystem.

Eligibility

PhD in political science, economics, social sciences, geography, international relations, or a related field.
Citizens of an African country.
Strong research and publication record relevant to project themes.
Policy advisory experience is advantageous but not required.

How to Apply

One-page letter of motivation
Academic CV with publication list
Two recent publications
Copies of relevant academic transcripts or diplomas
Concept note (max 2,000 words) detailing the research topic, objectives, relevance, feasibility, methodology, and alignment with the applicant’s research agenda.
