    Overview

    Rift Valley Conservation seeks a dedicated Monitoring Coordinator to support ecological and socio-economic monitoring activities in the Suguta Valley.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist in developing and revising monitoring, management, and research protocols.
    • Coordinate logistical arrangements for field activities, including equipment and supplies.
    • Provide training and support to community field monitors.
    • Conduct field and desktop data collection following established protocols.
    • Manage data recording equipment and ensure safety procedures are followed.
    • Maintain field equipment, ensuring proper storage, calibration, and upkeep.
    • Keep an updated asset register.
    • Ensure adherence to data recording and sharing protocols.
    • Perform data entry, quality control, and secure storage.
    • Utilize tools such as SMART, GIS, EarthRanger, and Excel for data management.
    • Analyze ecological and socio-economic data to identify patterns.
    • Produce reports, visualizations, and presentations for diverse audiences.
    • Support community organizations in reporting and feedback.
    • Engage effectively with partners, communities, and stakeholders.
    • Assist in delivering presentations, workshops, and feedback sessions.

    Requirements

    • Degree or Diploma in Conservation, Environmental Science, or related fields.
    • At least 5 years of monitoring experience in conservation or community development.
    • Kenyan citizen or resident with proof of residency.
    • Proficiency in English and Kiswahili.
    • Experience with SMART, GPS devices, Google Earth Pro.
    • High computer literacy, especially MS Office.
    • Experience working in remote rural areas.
    • Master’s degree in Conservation or Science (advantageous).
    • Experience with digital data collection tools like EarthRanger, KoboToolbox (advantageous).
    • Skills in scientific analysis, report writing, and ecological survey techniques (advantageous).
