    Overview

    The National Arts Council of South Africa (NAC) is offering annual project funding for the 2026–2027 financial year. This call is open to individual arts practitioners, registered arts organizations, and community art centers to support projects that educate, entertain, and enrich communities while fostering innovation, inclusion, and social impact.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Projects must highlight South African indigenous art forms.
    • Initiatives promoting intellectual property capacity building are encouraged.
    • Proposed projects must address at least two of the following six critical focus areas: Social Cohesion and Nation Building, Marginalized and Indigenous Arts, Addressing Social Ills, Supporting Vulnerable Groups, New Works and Digital Arts, or Capacity Building and Arts Entrepreneurship.
    • Projects involving children or young people must include police clearance certificates and parental/guardian consent.
    • Projects involving persons with disabilities must demonstrate appropriate skills, experience, training, or partnerships.

    Requirements

    Eligible Disciplines: Craft, Dance, Literature, Music, Theatre and Musical Theatre, Visual Arts, Multidiscipline arts.

    Eligible Applicants: Individual arts practitioners, registered arts organizations, and community art centers. Both natural and juristic persons are eligible.

    Exclusions: Advisory panel members and council members of the NAC are not eligible for funding during their term of office.

    Benefits

    • Maximum Funding: R350,000
    • Funding allocation aligns with the NAC’s redress and transformation priorities.
