    National Prosecuting Authority Aspirant Prosecutor Training Programme 2027/2028

    The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) is inviting applications from suitably qualified South African law graduates for its Aspirant Prosecutor Training Programme 2027/2028 under the National Prosecutions Service.

    Job Location: Multiple centres across South Africa (including Johannesburg, Randburg, Protea, Benoni, Bloemfontein, Kimberley, Bellville, George, Polokwane, Port Elizabeth and others)
    Closing Date: 27 July 2026
    Contract: 12-month training programme

    The programme provides aspiring legal professionals with structured prosecutorial training and practical experience required for a future career as a Prosecutor.

    Successful candidates will undergo intensive training, assessments and professional development over a 12-month period.

    The programme is expected to commence on 1 March 2027.

    Salary

    The successful candidates will receive a salary of: R262,968 – R304,299 per annum (LP-1 to LP-2)

    Programme Overview

    Successful candidates appointed to the programme will:

    • Complete a structured 12-month prosecutorial training programme.
    • Receive practical exposure to prosecution processes and legal procedures.

    • Participate in continuous assessments to determine competency for appointment as a Prosecutor.
    • Complete an entry examination as part of the selection process.
    • Work according to the NPA Code of Conduct and applicable policy directives.

    Candidates who successfully complete the programme may be considered for placement as Prosecutors depending on available positions and operational requirements.

    Minimum Requirements

    Applicants must meet the following requirements:

    • A completed LLB degree or equivalent foreign qualification supported by SAQA accreditation.
    • Final-year LLB students may apply, provided the degree will be completed before the programme start date.
    • Must be a South African citizen.

    Key Responsibilities

    During the programme, successful candidates will:

    • Develop prosecutorial skills through formal training and practical learning.
    • Apply legal knowledge in line with prosecution standards.

    • Uphold professional ethics and comply with NPA policies.

    • The latest Z83 Application Form.
    • A comprehensive CV detailing previous legal experience.

    Additional documents, including certified qualifications and academic records, will only be requested from shortlisted candidates.

    Applicants must:

    Foreign qualifications must include a SAQA evaluation report.
