Overview

This program offers 100,000 National Youth Service (NYS) opportunities for unemployed youth in South Africa to gain practical work experience, contribute to community development, and receive a stipend in a structured six-month initiative.

Eligibility

• South African citizens with a valid identity document
• Aged between 18 and 35 years old
• Residing within the local municipality or community where the programme site is located
• Willing to contribute positively to their communities
• Not have participated in previous phases of the National Youth Service Programme
• Preference for currently unemployed youth not in education, employment, or training (NEET)
• Applications from persons with disabilities are encouraged

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted through the SA Youth platform:

1. Visit the SA Youth platform.
2. Register on the platform if not already registered.
3. Complete the registration process, which takes approximately four minutes.
4. Log in using existing credentials if already registered.
5. Ensure that the SA Youth CV profile is fully completed.
6. Browse available NYS opportunities nearest to your address provided during registration.
7. Follow the instructions listed on the opportunity card and submit an application.

Applicants who do not immediately see available opportunities can use the search function and enter “NYS” to find relevant programme openings.

The final application deadline for all National Youth Service opportunities is 1 September 2026.
