UNICEF is currently recruiting a qualified and motivated individual for the position of Operations Officer in Sokoto.
Role Overview
The Operations Officer will serve as a strategic business partner, responsible for managing key operational functions and supporting decision-making processes. The role involves providing risk-informed, solution-focused analysis, advice, and services to enhance programme delivery and organizational effectiveness in achieving results for children.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will implement people management strategies aimed at building technical competence and promoting staff development, retention, and workforce agility. They will also ensure effective utilization of financial resources by promoting value for money and aligning operational strategies with organizational goals.
Additionally, the Operations Officer will strengthen risk management practices to improve organizational performance and internal controls. The role includes optimizing systems and structures for operational efficiency and supporting further centralization where necessary.
The candidate will also be responsible for strengthening internal and external partnerships, leveraging UNICEF’s expertise in financial management, and ensuring effective collaboration across all operational areas of the office.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Financial Management, Accounting, Public Finance, or related fields such as Supply Chain Management, Human Resources, Information Technology, International Business, or Project Management is required. A professional certification from a recognized institution is considered an added advantage.
Work Experience:
A minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience at national or international level is required. Experience should include areas such as budgeting, financial management and reporting, administration, supply and logistics, ICT, facilities management, or human resources. (jobera.com)
Skills:
Candidates should demonstrate strong emotional intelligence, financial management capabilities, technical support skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. The ability to manage complexity and adapt to change is essential.
Language Requirements:
Fluency in English is required.
Desirable Qualifications:
Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is an advantage. Familiarity with corporate ERP systems, IPSAS, and experience in large organizations or humanitarian contexts is also desirable.
