    Overview

    The University of Copenhagen (UCPH) is offering a PhD scholarship at the Department of Political Science to research "Cancel Culture and Moral Judgement in Democratic Politics" under the MoPo project.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct research on "Cancel Culture: Human Equality and Respect" as part of the MoPo project.
    • Examine the philosophical and political dimensions of cancel culture, including reactive attitudes, moral principles invoked, relationship to deliberative democracy, and legitimacy as a democratic practice.
    • Integrate philosophical analysis with empirical case studies using practice-sensitive reflective equilibrium.
    • Develop a PhD dissertation on cancel culture and moral judgment in politics.
    • Collaborate with other team members within the MoPo project.
    • Contribute to joint academic publications.
    • Participate in international workshops, conferences, and seminars.
    • Take part in teaching activities and academic dissemination.

    Requirements

    • Master’s degree in political science, political theory, or practical/political philosophy.
    • Demonstrated research ability in normative political theory.
    • Strong academic writing skills.
    • Interest in democratic practices and the intersection of political theory and political science.
    • Knowledge of qualitative research methods (optional).
    • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a research team (optional).
    • Qualifications equivalent to a Danish bachelor’s or master’s degree for applicants educated outside Denmark.
    • Official translations of academic documents if the teaching language was not English or a Scandinavian language.
