This opportunity is based in Brussels and focuses on critical policy areas such as clean energy transition and industrial decarbonisation within the European Union.

For professionals seeking to build a career in European policy, sustainability, and climate governance, this role offers a strategic entry point into one of Europe’s leading think tanks.

    Overview

The Policy Analyst will contribute to advancing research and policy engagement on Europe’s transition to a low-carbon economy. The role is structured as a consultancy contract, offering competitive local market rates.

The successful candidate will work on key EU priorities, including the Clean Industrial Deal, energy transition strategies, and industrial decarbonisation efforts. This position combines research, stakeholder engagement, and event coordination, making it ideal for candidates with both analytical and organisational strengths.

    Key Responsibilities and Duties

The role involves a mix of policy research, programme support, and stakeholder engagement. The selected candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality policy analyses and contributing to the development of new research ideas.

In addition, the Policy Analyst will organise events such as policy debates, roundtables, and expert discussions. This includes drafting proposals, coordinating speakers, and managing logistics.

Another important aspect of the role is networking. The candidate will engage with policymakers, researchers, and industry stakeholders while helping to build and maintain strategic partnerships. Support for fundraising initiatives is also part of the position, reflecting the collaborative and resource-driven nature of think tank work.

    Required Qualifications and Experience

Applicants are expected to have a strong academic background in fields such as energy and environmental sciences, economics, EU studies, or public policy. A minimum of two to three years of relevant professional experience is required, excluding internships.

Candidates should demonstrate proven ability in policy research, writing, and presentation. Experience in organising events and engaging with stakeholders is also essential.

A solid understanding of EU institutions and current developments in climate, energy, and environmental policy is critical. Additionally, candidates should show interest in cross-sectoral issues such as geopolitics, economic security, circular economy, electrification, and digital transformation.

Fluency in English is mandatory, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    Skills and Competencies for Success

The ideal candidate is dynamic, detail-oriented, and capable of working both independently and within multidisciplinary teams. Strong networking abilities are important, as the role requires regular interaction with experts and policymakers.

Flexibility and initiative are also key. The Policy Analyst is expected to contribute ideas, support programme development, and adapt to evolving policy priorities.

    Application Requirements and Task

Applicants must submit a combined document containing a one-page motivation letter, CV, and a completed analytical task of no more than 500 words.

The task requires candidates to assess the current state, challenges, and future prospects of the EU’s clean energy transition and industrial decarbonisation in the context of the US war against Iran. Applicants must also provide policy recommendations and disclose any use of AI tools in preparing their response.

In addition, a signed reference letter from a previous employer or institution must be submitted separately.

    Application Deadline and Selection Process

The deadline for applications is 23 April 2026. However, applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, meaning early submission can improve the chances of being shortlisted.
