Key Responsibilities

• Define, lead, and contribute to the evolution of core search and indexing capabilities.
• Research advancements in search infrastructure, data structures, and retrieval algorithms.
• Collaborate with partners and product teams to shape the technical vision for search at Elastic.
• Drive the roadmap for Elasticsearch’s indexing, query execution, and relevance layers.
• Serve as an authority on Elasticsearch, improving search systems through insights and expertise.

Requirements

• Experience leading technical projects in search infrastructure and distributed systems.
• Proven knowledge in building and operating sophisticated search platforms.
• Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical and professional guidance.
• Hands-on experience with search and indexing technologies (e.g., Elasticsearch, Lucene, Solr).
• Strong skills in core Java and familiarity with advanced data structures.
• Ability to guide projects from concept to completion with high autonomy.
• Understanding of large-scale data or search systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
