    Public Media Bridge Fund is seeking a Head of Sustainability & Strategic Partnerships to lead station sustainability and collaboration efforts, serving as a trusted advisor to public media organizations, driving innovative strategies, and fostering transformational change across the public media system.

    About the Public Media Bridge Fund

    The Public Media Bridge Fund, an initiative of Public Media Company, supports local public media threatened by federal funding cuts.

    It provides financial assistance, tools, and advisory services to ensure vital public service media continues to inform, engage, and connect communities.

    Position Overview

    This role will work closely with the Bridge Fund’s leadership, PMC consulting team, and external partners to develop and implement sustainability strategies, facilitate collaborative operating models, and advance public media resilience.

    The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in public media, nonprofit management, or related fields, with a focus on organizational change and revenue strategy.

    Key Responsibilities

    Station Support & Sustainability

    • Collaborate with public media organizations to develop and execute sustainability plans that reduce costs, improve efficiency, and increase revenue.
    • Support stations through capacity-building activities, including webinars, peer learning, coaching, and shared services.
    • Assist with Program Related Investment (PRI) loan structuring and due diligence when necessary.

    Collaborative Operating Models

    • Guide public media organizations in exploring, structuring, and managing partnerships, mergers, and shared service models.
    • Facilitate regional and statewide collaborations to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs.
    • Partner with PMC Consulting on relevant projects.

    Bridge Fund Strategy & Operations

    • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Bridge Fund programs and communicate priorities effectively to stakeholders.
    • Contribute to strategic decisions regarding funding initiatives and programs.

    • Document and share best practices and innovative solutions through various formats.
    • Support grant proposal assessments and funding decisions with expertise.

    External Partnerships

    • Act as a liaison to national public media organizations, representing the Bridge Fund at industry events.
    • Collaborate with external consultants, PMC colleagues, and stakeholders to ensure high-quality support and forward-looking strategies for public media.

    Skills & Qualifications

    Required

    • 15+ years of experience in public media, media consulting, philanthropy, or nonprofit management.
    • Deep knowledge of public media station operations, business models, and financial pressures.
    • Proven experience in revenue strategies, operational efficiency, organizational change, and partnerships.

    • Strong facilitation, relationship management, and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently remotely while collaborating effectively with teams.
    • Passion for the future of public media and alignment with the Bridge Fund’s values of clarity, transparency, and compassion.

    Preferred

    • Experience leading a local public media station.
    • Familiarity with national public media organizations and ecosystem.
