Overview

The Senior Customer Reliability Engineer for Astronomer focuses on ensuring the reliability of customer usage of the managed Airflow service. This role involves operating, monitoring, and maintaining the cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes clusters essential for product success.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide solutions to customers for successful product usage.
• Troubleshoot customer environments and engage in active triaging.
• Offer feedback to product development teams on customer needs.
• Build and maintain monitoring and alerting systems.
• Automate daily operational tasks for efficiency.
• Direct the architecture of products and contribute as necessary.
• Own the customer experience, prioritize and resolve issues, and provide guidance.
• Participate in a fully distributed team remotely.
• Enhance customer documentation.
• Maintain 24/7 coverage through a 6-hour pager period during work hours.
• Participate in paid on-call rotation for weekend coverage.

Requirements

• 5+ years' experience with large, complex cloud infrastructures.
• 3+ years' experience with Kubernetes.
• Experience managing a production distributed system with a major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Strong networking and Linux experience.
• Knowledge in operating and monitoring distributed systems.
• Experience with observability tools.
• Strong communication skills and troubleshooting skills.
• DevOps or CI/CD experience; Python scripting.
