C40 is seeking an experienced Senior Finance Manager to oversee financial management of the Resilient Urban Futures programme, funded by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DMFA).
Job Title: Senior Finance Manager – Resilient Urban Futures
Location: Kenya, South Africa (Right to work in listed locations required)
Closing Date: Friday, 3rd July 2024, 5:00 PM UK Time
Contract: Fixed Term until 31st March 2030
Reporting to the Head of Finance – Grants, this role involves managing programme finances, ensuring compliance with donor requirements, and supporting effective financial planning, reporting, and forecasting for a diverse international team.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Compliance
- Serve as the finance anchor point for the Resilient Urban Futures programme
- Manage all transactions and ensure accuracy within financial systems
- Provide timely, detailed financial reports and variance analysis
- Support external audits, mid-term reviews, and financial monitoring visits
- Ensure adherence to donor requirements and internal controls
Forecasting & Budgeting
- Maintain detailed expenditure forecasts and communicate with programme leads
- Assess financial risks and propose mitigation strategies
- Support budget preparation, modifications, and project close-out processes
- Lead on audit preparation and act as the primary contact during audits
Advisory & Support
- Advise programme teams on financial matters and donor compliance
- Develop and deliver donor-specific financial training as needed
- Collaborate across teams to facilitate smooth project delivery
Person Specification
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, CPA, CIMA, ACCA)
- Experience with government project accounting and management
- Strong Microsoft Excel and analytical skills
- Proven ability to design and implement financial workflows
- Experience working internationally with multiple currencies
- Knowledge of Microsoft Business Central (desirable)
- Fluency in additional relevant languages (desirable)
- Ability to work across multiple time zones and manage own work planning
