Overview

The Senior Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Officer will support the design, implementation, and strengthening of monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems at Mercy Corps Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement M&E frameworks, tools, and systems
Support baseline, midline, and endline surveys and impact evaluations
Ensure gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) integration
Review data collection tools and reporting templates
Conduct regular field visits (up to 50% travel)
Support data-driven reporting and indicator tracking
Oversee data collection, validation, and analysis
Manage databases and dashboards
Support use of digital data collection platforms
Train staff and partners on MEL tools and systems
Provide on-site mentoring and technical support
Contribute to donor and internal reports
Document lessons learned, case studies, and success stories

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Economics, Development Studies, or related field
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in M&E or research within NGOs or development agencies
Strong quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills
Experience with statistical software is an advantage
Excellent communication, reporting, and organizational skills
Willingness to travel frequently to field locations
