Overview
The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC) offers postgraduate scholarship awards to students from the Niger Delta region of Nigeria for Masters studies in courses relevant to the oil and gas industry.
Eligibility
- Aged between 21-28 years by 30/09/2020.
- Indigene of Rivers, Delta, Imo or Bayelsa States (documentary proof required).
- Display sound intellectual ability and leadership potential.
- Meet individual university's English Language requirements (e.g., 6.5 in IELTS).
- Currently reside in Nigeria.
- Plan to return to Nigeria upon completion of studies.
- Obtained a university degree equivalent to a UK Second Class Upper Honours degree.
- Not have studied previously in the UK or any other developed country.
- Possess a Nigerian international passport valid until December 2021.
- Not be a current or former employee (within 5 years) of SPDC, Royal Dutch Shell Group, any Shell company, or their local Nigerian consultant.
- Not be a spouse, child, or ward of Shell Companies in Nigeria staff or their local Nigerian consultant.
Benefits
The scholarship covers tuition, one economy return-flight ticket from Nigeria to the UK, and a contribution towards living expenses.
How to Apply
- Submit an application for admission to one of the participating universities (Imperial College London, University of Leeds, University of Aberdeen) for a qualifying course.
- Scholarship application forms will ONLY be available through the websites of the participating universities after a formal offer of admission.
- The universities will process applications and select candidates for interviews with SPDC.
- Completed scholarship application forms must be submitted to the participating universities by April 15, 2020.
