International students looking to study in Europe have a new opportunity as Slovakia opens applications for its 2026/27 Scholarships for Talented Students programme, offering funding of up to €15,000 for eligible bachelor’s and master’s degree studies.
The Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic has officially launched applications for the 2026/2027 Scholarships for Talented Students from All Over the World, a government-funded initiative designed to attract high-achieving international students to Slovak universities.
Applications are currently open and will close on 31 July 2026 at 23:59 CEST.
The programme offers financial support of up to €5,000 per academic year, allowing eligible students to receive a maximum of €15,000 during their studies in Slovakia.

The Ministry says the initiative aims to attract talented students from around the world while strengthening Slovakia’s higher education sector and supporting the country’s future workforce.
For the 2026/27 academic year, the programme will award up to 225 scholarships across bachelor’s and master’s programmes.
The available awards include:
The Ministry has introduced several updates for this year’s programme.
Students already completing a bachelor’s degree in Slovakia may now apply for a master’s scholarship if they continue directly into postgraduate study, even if they did not previously receive support through the programme.
Applicants holding a temporary residence permit in Slovakia may also qualify under specific eligibility conditions outlined in the official application guidance.
To strengthen applications, prospective students are encouraged to complete either the SAT examination or the SCIO Mathematics and General Academic Prerequisites tests, which form part of the scholarship assessment process.
International students are advised to begin preparing their application documents early, as the registration period is limited.
The Ministry has published a step-by-step registration guide to assist applicants with creating an account and submitting their scholarship application through the official online portal.
Applicants are also encouraged to carefully review the eligibility requirements, required supporting documents, selection criteria, and scholarship conditions before applying.
The scholarship programme promotes Slovakia as a safe and affordable study destination offering internationally recognised higher education and growing career opportunities within Europe.
The initiative is co-financed by the European Union under the Slovakia Programme as part of the national project supporting talented domestic and international students studying at Slovak higher education institutions.
Successful applicants will receive financial assistance to help cover living and study costs while pursuing their degrees at participating Slovak universities.
Students interested in applying should submit their applications through the official scholarship portal before the 31 July 2026 deadline.
The programme presents an attractive opportunity for academically talented international students seeking quality higher education in Europe while benefiting from substantial financial support throughout their studies.
