📢🌍 Opportunity for Young Advocates in Nigeria: SSCE Youth Social Media Advocates Program
YouthHubAfrica, with support from the Malala Fund, is inviting applications from passionate and driven young individuals to become SSCE Youth Social Media Advocates. This initiative is designed to empower young people to use digital platforms as powerful tools for advocacy, storytelling, and social change, particularly in the fight against child marriage. If you are based in Nigeria, this program is crafted especially for you.
The program seeks individuals who already have an active online presence or show strong potential to build one. Selected advocates will collaborate with established influencers and youth networks to amplify messages, engage communities, and spark meaningful conversations around issues affecting young people, especially efforts to end child marriage. Advocates from all regions of Nigeria are encouraged to participate.
Through this initiative, participants will be equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively use social media for advocacy. They will also become part of a growing network of changemakers committed to driving impact within their communities and beyond inside Nigeria.
Participants will receive monthly stipends to support the creation of engaging content, campaigns, and online conversations. In addition, advocates will have opportunities to attend SSCE (Strengthening Systems and Communities to End Child Marriage) events within their respective states, gaining firsthand experience in community engagement and advocacy work. The program also offers valuable training focused on social media strategy, storytelling, and issues surrounding child marriage. All this is geared toward youth advocacy efforts in Nigeria itself.
To be eligible, applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 30 and reside in one of the focal states, including Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Kaduna, Kano, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Candidates must be willing to actively promote SSCE activities in their communities and be available to participate in a mandatory 3-day virtual training scheduled for July. A verifiable and active presence on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter (X), Instagram, or YouTube is also required. Only those residing in Nigeria can apply for this unique opportunity.
This is a great opportunity for young people who are passionate about advocacy, digital engagement, and creating positive social change. By joining this program, participants will not only strengthen their digital skills but also contribute to a critical cause affecting millions of young people in Nigeria.
