The University of Greater Manchester is offering International Excellence Scholarships for the 2026/27 academic year to support talented international students across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes. The scholarship provides tuition fee discounts of up to £4,000.

Benefits

The scholarship offers tuition fee discounts:

• Global Excellence Package: Gold Award: £4,000, Silver Award: £3,000, Bronze Award: £2,000
• International Merit Package: Gold Award: £3,000, Silver Award: up to £2,000, Bronze Award: up to £1,000
• Global Scholars Awards: 10 awards of £5,000 tuition fee discount (Year 1 only) for Undergraduate and PhD applicants qualifying for a Gold International Excellence Scholarship.
• Chancellor’s Excellence Scholar: 100% tuition fee discount for Year 1.
• Additional Tuition Fee Discounts: Women in STEM Award (£500), Family Discount (£500), Transnational Education (TNE) Progression Award (£500).
• Alumni progressing to a higher level of study may qualify again for the International Merit Package (up to five years after graduation).

Scholarships apply to Year 1 only and cannot be combined to exceed total Year 1 tuition fees.

Eligibility

The scholarships are open to:

• International students applying for undergraduate, postgraduate taught (MA, MSc, MBA), and PhD/Doctoral programmes (excluding MRes programmes).
• Four-year undergraduate programmes with foundation years are eligible for the Bronze Award only.
• Global Excellence Package: Self-funded students applying directly from selected countries.
• International Merit Package: Applicants from countries not listed under the Global Excellence Package, or those applying via representative partners or agents.
• Global Scholars Awards: Applicants must qualify for a Gold International Excellence Scholarship and be from selected countries.
• Women in STEM Award: Female students in Engineering, Computing, Psychology, Medical Biology, and Biomedical Sciences.
• Family Discount: Immediate family members of current students or offer holders.
• Transnational Education (TNE) Progression Award: Students progressing from approved overseas TNE partners.
• Government-funded students are not eligible.

How to Apply

A separate application is required for the Global Scholars Awards, involving shortlisting based on academic excellence, personal statement, and leadership potential, followed by an interview. Other scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, and may be combined with additional discounts if criteria are met. Review full eligibility criteria and apply early.
