The Federal Government of Nigeria has launched a new financing programme. This programme is designed to strengthen the growth and sustainability of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across the country. The initiative will provide 6,122 entrepreneurs with access to affordable loans at single digit interest rates. These loans will be given through the Inspire Create Start Scale programme. The programme is implemented by Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria.
The programme was officially introduced in Abuja as part of the government’s broader strategy to support entrepreneurship, stimulate innovation, and expand economic opportunities for young Nigerians and small business owners. It is being implemented through a strategic partnership involving Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit and Kaduna Business School. Additionally, implementation support is provided by GOPA Worldwide Consultants.
The financing facility will be administered by Jaiz Bank. It is structured to support businesses at different stages of growth. Entrepreneurs who are starting or expanding small ventures can access START loans. These loans range from 250000 naira to 2000000 naira. In addition, businesses that are ready to expand operations and scale their activities can apply for SCALE loans. These loans range from 1000000 naira to 5000000 naira. The loans are designed to remain affordable through single digit interest rates. This makes them accessible to a wide range of entrepreneurs. Many entrepreneurs may otherwise struggle to secure financing from traditional lenders.
The programme aims to increase productivity, promote innovation, and create employment opportunities by supporting MSMEs. These businesses are widely recognized as the backbone of economic growth in Nigeria. By providing easier access to capital, the government hopes to empower thousands of small business owners to expand operations. They also want to help small business owners strengthen their market presence and contribute to national development.
