    Position Overview

    The Carbon Finance Associate will join The Nature Conservancy’s Impact Finance and Markets Division, working within the Conservancy’s Global Carbon Markets team.

    This role involves supporting project finance activities for Natural Climate Solutions (NCS), developing financial models, and enhancing equitable benefit-sharing arrangements.

    The position reports to the Carbon Finance Director and offers a flexible location for candidates in countries where TNC operates.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop financial models and viability assessments for NCS carbon projects.
    • Support the technical team with feasibility studies and project design.
    • Create FP&A tools for the Carbon Markets Team, TNC business units, and project partners.

    • Design equitable benefit-sharing mechanisms, including profit-sharing, community compensation, and incentive schemes.
    • Stay informed on trends in carbon markets, including credit prices and investment opportunities.
    • Travel and work flexible hours as needed.
    • Exercise independent judgment to prioritize tasks and solve complex issues.

    Qualifications and Skills

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
    • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in project finance with advanced financial modeling skills.
    • Strong analytical, research, and strategic decision-making abilities.

    • Fluency in English with excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Knowledge of carbon market standards (e.g., VCS, Plan Vivo, Climate, Community and Biodiversity Standard) is preferred.
    • Multilingual skills and multicultural experience are advantageous.

    Compensation and Benefits

    • For U.S. applicants: $90,000 – $110,000 annually, based on location and experience.
    • For international applicants: Salary in local currency, aligned with regional labor markets.
