Overview
The Director position at the Organization of American States (OAS) represents a senior leadership role within the Department Against Transnational Organized Crime, designed to lead initiatives that combat organized crime across the Americas.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise senior leadership on transnational organized crime issues.
- Develop and implement strategic policies, work plans, and operational frameworks.
- Represent the organization in high-level international and regional forums.
- Lead the planning and execution of departmental programs and projects.
- Mobilize financial and technical resources from member states and partners.
- Build and maintain partnerships with governments, NGOs, and international organizations.
- Oversee departmental operations, including budget management and personnel allocation.
- Support implementation of international frameworks regarding organized crime.
- Lead and mentor professional and support staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 15 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 10 years of experience, or a Doctorate with 6 years of experience in relevant fields such as criminology, law, or political science.
- Demonstrated leadership and managerial experience.
- Experience within international or regional organizations is desirable.
- Proficiency in at least two official languages of the OAS: English, French, Portuguese, or Spanish.
