Overview

The Director position at the Organization of American States (OAS) represents a senior leadership role within the Department Against Transnational Organized Crime, designed to lead initiatives that combat organized crime across the Americas.

Key Responsibilities

Advise senior leadership on transnational organized crime issues.
Develop and implement strategic policies, work plans, and operational frameworks.
Represent the organization in high-level international and regional forums.
Lead the planning and execution of departmental programs and projects.
Mobilize financial and technical resources from member states and partners.
Build and maintain partnerships with governments, NGOs, and international organizations.
Oversee departmental operations, including budget management and personnel allocation.
Support implementation of international frameworks regarding organized crime.
Lead and mentor professional and support staff.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree with at least 15 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 10 years of experience, or a Doctorate with 6 years of experience in relevant fields such as criminology, law, or political science.
Demonstrated leadership and managerial experience.
Experience within international or regional organizations is desirable.
Proficiency in at least two official languages of the OAS: English, French, Portuguese, or Spanish.
