    Key Role in Programme Coordination and Development

    The International Programme Coordinator will report directly to the UNFPA Representative and play a central role in coordinating programme planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and support to programme staff, national and international volunteers, and project teams.

    The role focuses on ensuring that UNFPA programmes are implemented efficiently and effectively while maintaining high standards of accountability and impact.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Coordinating programme design and implementation across thematic areas.
    • Supporting annual work planning, budgeting, and performance monitoring.
    • Ensuring compliance with UNFPA policies and quality assurance standards.
    • Monitoring programme progress through field visits and reviews.
    • Supporting evidence-based decision-making and course correction where necessary.

    • Organising training sessions and programme briefings.
    • Strengthening results-based management practices.
    • Supporting implementing partners in programme monitoring and reporting.
    • Enhancing financial management and compliance capacities.
    • Documenting knowledge and institutional processes for long-term sustainability.

    UNFPA emphasises measurable improvements in programme management capabilities and accountability among national stakeholders.

    Driving Policy Engagement and Technical Leadership

    The International Programme Coordinator will also provide technical expertise and policy analysis to support national development processes and strengthen stakeholder engagement.

    Core responsibilities include:

    • Preparing policy briefings and technical analyses.
    • Supporting government planning and strategy development.
    • Participating in UN inter-agency coordination platforms.
    • Conducting budget analyses and investment case development.
    • Strengthening collaboration with ministries, development banks, donors, and civil society organisations.

    The position requires the ability to represent UNFPA effectively within national and international development forums while promoting evidence-based solutions to development challenges.

    Resource Mobilisation and Accountability Responsibilities

    In addition to programme management, the coordinator will support resource mobilisation initiatives and ensure programme accountability.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Contributing to donor proposals and funding applications.
    • Developing programme performance narratives.
    • Supporting donor engagement and partnership development.
    • Ensuring compliance with financial and audit requirements.
    • Strengthening monitoring, evaluation, and reporting systems.

    The role also involves collaborating closely with communications teams to increase visibility and demonstrate programme impact across multiple stakeholders.

    Qualifications and Experience Required

    UNFPA is seeking highly qualified professionals with a strong background in international development and programme management.

    Minimum requirements include:

    • An advanced university degree in public health, population studies, international development, development economics, social sciences, or a related field.
    • At least five years of progressively responsible experience in programme management.
    • Expertise in sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), gender equality, gender-based violence (GBV), population dynamics, or health economics.
    • Demonstrated experience in results-based management and donor reporting.
    • Proven ability to provide coaching and technical support to national staff and implementing partners.
    • Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.

    Fluency in English is required, while knowledge of another official United Nations language will be considered an advantage.
