    The United Nations Office for Project Services has announced exciting remote career opportunities for experienced professionals to join the Forest & Climate Leaders’ Partnership (FCLP) as In-Country Coordinators. These home-based positions offer a unique chance to contribute to global climate action, forest conservation, biodiversity protection, and sustainable development efforts while working directly with governments and international stakeholders.

    About the Forest & Climate Leaders’ Partnership (FCLP)

    The Forest and Climate Leaders’ Partnership was launched by world leaders during COP26 and expanded at COP27 to support the implementation of the Glasgow Leaders’ Declaration on Forests and Land Use.

    The partnership aims to:

    • Halt and reverse forest loss by 2030
    • Combat land degradation
    • Support biodiversity conservation
    • Advance sustainable development goals
    • Promote inclusive rural transformation
    • Mobilize climate finance and investment

    Through collaboration among governments, Indigenous Peoples, local communities, development partners, and the private sector, FCLP seeks to accelerate meaningful climate and forestry action worldwide.

    Available Home-Based Coordinator Positions

    The FCLP Secretariat is recruiting four In-Country Coordinators to support participating governments and regional initiatives.

    Available assignments include:

    • One Coordinator supporting the Government of Ghana
    • One Coordinator supporting the Government of Kenya
    • One Coordinator supporting the Governments of the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Congo
    • One Coordinator supporting Asia-Pacific countries, including Cambodia, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, and Vietnam

    All positions are home-based and offer flexibility while enabling candidates to contribute to international climate and environmental policy implementation.

    Key Responsibilities

    The selected coordinators will provide strategic, technical, and operational support to ensure effective participation in FCLP initiatives and programmes.

    Primary responsibilities include:

    Coordination and Reporting

    • Developing and monitoring annual FCLP country workplans
    • Preparing reports, updates, and briefing documents
    • Supporting national participation in major events and international meetings
    • Coordinating communication between national and international stakeholders

    Governance and Stakeholder Engagement

    • Supporting participation in FCLP governance structures
    • Coordinating inputs from government ministries and agencies
    • Facilitating engagement with private sector actors and development partners
    • Preparing policy briefs, talking points, and strategic documents

    Country Package Implementation

    • Supporting the design and implementation of national action plans
    • Organizing workshops, dialogues, and consultations
    • Aligning activities with national climate and biodiversity strategies
    • Supporting investment pipeline development

    Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities Engagement

    • Strengthening collaboration with Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs)
    • Supporting implementation of land tenure commitments where applicable
    • Monitoring participation and inclusion efforts

    Climate Finance and Carbon Markets

    • Supporting engagement with climate finance initiatives
    • Facilitating dialogue with donors and investors
    • Providing technical analysis on carbon market frameworks
    • Supporting partnerships related to results-based climate finance

    Eligibility Requirements

    Candidates should possess strong experience in environmental governance, project coordination, and stakeholder engagement.

    Education Requirements

    Applicants must have either:

    • A Bachelor’s degree with at least seven years of relevant professional experience; or
    • A Master’s degree with at least five years of relevant experience

    Relevant fields include:

    • Forestry
    • Environmental Science

    • Natural Resource Management
    • Public Policy

    • Communications
    • Law
    • Environmental Studies

    Additional certifications in project management, climate finance, forest management, or carbon markets are considered advantageous.

    Professional Experience Required

    Applicants should demonstrate experience in:

    • Climate, biodiversity, forestry, or sustainable development projects
    • Partnership development and stakeholder engagement
    • Knowledge-sharing and policy dialogue processes

    Desirable experience includes:

    • REDD+ initiatives

    Contract Information

    The positions are offered under a UNOPS Individual Contractor Agreement and are subject to:

    The advertised level is ICS-10 (IICA-2), although local contractual arrangements may apply depending on residency status and eligibility.
