    Position Overview

    The role of Commercial Relationship Management Officer focuses on driving sales, managing client relationships, ensuring risk compliance, and contributing to the financial growth of the branch.

    Key Responsibilities

    Sales Management

    The officer is responsible for executing the branch’s commercial sales strategy in line with local market conditions to achieve set targets. This includes maintaining strong product knowledge, identifying cross-selling opportunities, and staying informed about market developments. The role involves driving customer acquisition, increasing business volumes, and opening various account types.

    The officer will maintain and expand existing commercial relationships while identifying and securing new clients. Responsibilities also include delivering sales presentations, coordinating with marketing initiatives, and converting service recovery situations into business opportunities. Regular client visits are required to assess needs and promote banking products and services.

    Risk Management

    The officer must identify acceptable lending risks in alignment with the bank’s risk appetite and ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures. Responsibilities include conducting collateral analysis, reviewing loan documentation, and adhering to KYC requirements to prevent fraud and losses.

    The role also involves resolving customer complaints through established processes while maintaining service standards and mitigating risks.

    Financial Management

    The officer will analyze financial statements, cash flow projections, and other financial reports to assess customer creditworthiness. Duties include evaluating loan applications, conducting prequalification assessments, and supporting the preparation of credit proposals.

    The role contributes to the growth of deposits, loans, and overdrafts, thereby improving branch profitability. It also involves negotiating contracts and advising customers on financial products, pricing, and terms.

    Customer Service

    The officer is expected to maintain high service standards by addressing customer needs effectively and resolving complaints promptly. Responsibilities include providing tailored financial solutions, offering advisory services, and ensuring consistent communication with clients.

    The role requires managing customer portfolios, delivering value-driven consultations, and ensuring a seamless and differentiated customer experience.

    People Management

    The officer will collaborate with colleagues to ensure efficient service delivery and contribute to building a positive workplace culture. The role requires adherence to corporate policies, demonstration of leadership qualities, and commitment to employee wellbeing and organizational values.

    Requirements

    Candidates must possess a minimum of a first degree in any discipline, with additional qualifications considered an advantage. A minimum of three to ten years of relevant experience in sales and marketing is required.

    Professional certification such as CIBN is desirable. Candidates should be digitally proficient, possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrate strategic thinking, and have the ability to analyze and solve problems effectively. Leadership ability and a strong commitment to customer service are essential.
