Visiting PhD Fellowship Programme @UNU-WIDER – Apply Before 31 March 2026

Overview

The United Nations University World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER) is offering a Visiting PhD Fellowship Programme for doctoral students researching developing economies. This fellowship provides access to research resources, collaboration opportunities with development economists, and a chance to contribute to policy-relevant scholarship.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Be currently enrolled in a PhD programme.
• Demonstrate the ability to conduct research related to developing economies.
• Possess strong analytical skills, including quantitative and/or qualitative research capabilities.
• Be fluent in written and spoken English.

Candidates from related social science disciplines are welcome if their research aligns with the institute’s work programme. The programme particularly encourages applications from early-career researchers, female scholars, and researchers from developing countries. It is best suited for doctoral candidates in the later stages of their PhD.
