The awards aim to highlight innovative startups that are tackling some of the most pressing global challenges related to food systems, climate resilience, food security, sustainability, and economic inclusion. By supporting early-stage technology-driven solutions, the initiative contributes to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those focused on ending hunger, promoting sustainable agriculture, and strengthening resilient food systems.
Applications for the 2026 WFF Startup Innovation Awards are open until 1 April 2026.
The Startup Innovation Awards (SIA) are a flagship initiative of the World Food Forum Youth Innovation Lab. The awards are designed to identify and support promising youth-led startups that leverage technology to transform agrifood systems worldwide.
Through collaboration with MassChallenge Switzerland, selected startups gain access to one of the world’s most recognized startup accelerator ecosystems based in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The programme supports young entrepreneurs who are building innovative solutions capable of improving agricultural productivity, food processing systems, climate resilience, water security, and inclusion within the agrifood sector.

In addition to category awards, the competition includes two prestigious special awards.
The overall winner demonstrating exceptional innovation, scalability, and global impact will receive:
USD 10,000 cash prize from the Seeding The Future Foundation
This award recognizes startups with the highest potential to transform global agrifood systems.
Presented by Extreme Tech Challenge (XTC), this award recognizes startups that use artificial intelligence to create impactful solutions in agrifood systems.

Startups applying for the WFF Startup Innovation Awards must meet the following requirements:
Youth Leadership Requirement
At least one founder or C-level executive must be between 18 and 35 years old.
Startup Stage
The startup must have:
Raised less than USD 2 million in capital, and
Generated less than USD 2 million in revenue.
Evidence of Solution Validation
Applicants must demonstrate:
Pilot implementations
Partnerships
Early adoption by users
Measurable operational or social impact
Scalability
The solution must demonstrate strong potential for growth and global impact.
Sustainability and Impact
Innovations must clearly contribute to sustainable agrifood systems.
