    Overview

    The Fulbright–Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowships support Indian doctoral scholars in conducting advanced research in the United States.     Eligibility

    • Registration for a Ph.D. at an Indian institution before 1 November 2025
    • Expected thesis submission must be at least three months after fellowship end date
    • Pre-doctoral research candidates only
    • Identification of relevant U.S. host institutions and resources
    • Recommendation letter from Ph.D. supervisor, detailing progress and fellowship necessity
    • Employer endorsement for employed candidates
    • Relevant academic writing samples (max 20 pages)
    • Candidates holding a Ph.D. or in final submission stage are not eligible
