Overview

This fellowship offers outstanding early-career researchers in the humanities and social sciences the opportunity to pursue independent research at eligible UK universities and research institutions.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet several eligibility requirements, including:

Hold postdoctoral status by the time the British Academy Research Awards Committee meets.
Have completed their Viva Voce examination between 1 April 2024 and 1 April 2027.
Be based at an eligible UK university or recognised UK research organisation throughout the fellowship.

Eligible applicants include:

British citizens.
Nationals of European Economic Area (EEA) countries, regardless of where they obtained their doctorate.
Applicants of any nationality who earned a doctorate from a UK university.
Researchers who can demonstrate a strong prior association with the UK academic community.

This fellowship is intended for early-career researchers who have not previously held a permanent academic position at a higher education institution in the UK or abroad, except where an approved exemption applies.
