Overview

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Agricultural Statistician to support statistical capacity building initiatives in the Republic of Moldova.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate in-country training workshops (virtual or in-person) on:
• Planning of agricultural censuses and surveys
• Organization of agricultural sample surveys
• Sample frame and sampling design
• Development of Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) applications
• Data processing and analysis using statistical software
• Indicator computation from survey data
• Preparation of dissemination products, including statistical disclosure control
• Coordinate and plan capacity development activities with national stakeholders
• Contribute to methodological notes and reports
• Provide additional support for project implementation as needed

Requirements

• University degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or related fields (PhD preferred)
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in agricultural statistics, survey organization, data processing, or training (2 years with a PhD)
• Full proficiency in English or Russian (Level C)
• Strong drafting and communication skills in English
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Experience with statistical data production, survey design, data analysis, and capacity development
• Skills in statistical and GIS programming languages such as R and GIS software, including Google Earth Engine
