Organizations, community groups, and climate innovators worldwide are invited to apply for the Gender Just Climate Solutions Awards 2026, an international initiative recognizing projects that advance climate action while promoting gender equality and women’s rights.

Now in its 11th edition, the prestigious awards celebrate innovative and impactful solutions that place gender justice at the center of efforts to address climate change. Applications are open free of charge and will be accepted until 12 July 2026.

Global Recognition for Gender-Responsive Climate Action

The Gender Just Climate Solutions Awards are organized by the Women and Gender Constituency (WGC) and Women Engage for a Common Future (WECF), with financial support from the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) and the European Union through the WomenPower2030 programme.

The initiative aims to showcase practical climate solutions that not only contribute to environmental sustainability but also empower women, strengthen communities, and address systemic inequalities.

Award Categories for 2026

The awards recognize outstanding projects across three distinct categories:

Technical Climate Solutions

This category highlights gender-responsive innovations in areas such as:

• Renewable energy
• Water management
• Sustainable food production
• Digital technologies
• Waste reduction and circular economy initiatives

Non-Technical Climate Solutions

Projects in this category focus on social and behavioral transformation through:

• Capacity-building initiatives
• Community education
• Knowledge sharing
• Mutual learning programmes
• Gender-responsive awareness campaigns

Transformative Climate Initiatives

This category recognizes efforts that drive systemic change by:

• Influencing governance structures
• Advancing institutional reform
• Promoting social transformation
• Challenging patriarchal norms and inequalities
• Supporting inclusive decision-making processes

Winners to Receive Cash Prize and COP31 Participation

Three winning projects, one from each category, will receive significant support and international visibility.

Award recipients will receive:

• A €5,000 cash prize
• Fully funded travel for one representative to attend the award ceremony at COP31 in Antalya, Turkey, in November 2026
• Tailored mentorship and guidance from members of the Women and Gender Constituency
• Global recognition for their climate and gender equality contributions

About the Women and Gender Constituency

The Women and Gender Constituency (WGC) is one of the nine official stakeholder groups of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Established in 2009, the constituency brings together 52 women’s rights and environmental civil society organizations from around the world.

The WGC works to ensure that gender equality and women’s human rights remain central to international climate negotiations and policy implementation. Its members advocate for inclusive climate governance and support solutions that promote both environmental sustainability and social justice.
