    Overview

    The British Council, in partnership with the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (IASH) at the University of Edinburgh, offers up to two prestigious 12-month research fellowships starting in January 2027. These fellowships aim to support early-career international researchers from eligible ODA-recipient countries, promoting peace, prosperity, and cultural understanding through innovative research.

    Eligibility

    • Applicants must be based in an ODA-recipient country where the British Council operates.
    • Hold a PhD awarded within the last seven years (considering career breaks).
    • Not have held a permanent university position or previous IASH fellowship.
    • Demonstrate research aligned with British Council priorities: peace-building, cultural diplomacy, international relations, arts, education, or English language.
    • Show commitment to knowledge exchange and stakeholder engagement in their home country or region.

    Benefits
