The Institute of International Education’s Scholar Rescue Fund (IIE-SRF) is a global program dedicated to supporting threatened and displaced scholars. It provides fellowships that allow professors, researchers, and public intellectuals to continue their academic work safely at partner institutions worldwide.
IIE-SRF offers year-long fellowships valued at USD $30,000, providing scholars with temporary academic positions at institutions of higher learning. Fellows may also be eligible for a second and final year of support in most cases.
The program has successfully supported 1,196 scholars from 62 countries, placing them at 532 host institutions across 60 countries, ensuring the continuation of academic work in safe environments.
Applications for IIE-SRF fellowships are accepted on a rolling basis, with fellowships awarded quarterly. To be considered for the June 2026 Selection Committee, applicants must submit their applications no later than April 26, 2026.
