Call for Applications: Women in Agriculture Leadership Program Fellowship
Applications are now open for the Women in Agriculture Leadership Program Fellowship under the Africa Australia Partnership for Climate Responsive Agriculture. The Fellowship is a career development initiative designed to strengthen the leadership capacity, confidence, and influence of African women scientists. In particular, it targets those working at the intersection of agriculture and climate resilience.
The 24 month Fellowship combines leadership development, mentoring partnerships, and technical training to enhance the ability of Fellows to lead and contribute. In addition, it aims to support climate resilient agricultural research and agrifood systems transformation.
The program targets African women agricultural scientists working in National Agricultural Research Institutions, government ministries, universities, and international research organizations. It is available in six African countries including Egypt, Morocco, Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Senegal.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be African women scientists with at least seven years of professional experience in agriculture, agrifood systems, gender, or climate related research. Additionally, candidates should possess a minimum of a master’s degree in a relevant discipline such as agriculture, agricultural economics, agricultural extension, natural resources, food science and nutrition, or climate science. Applicants must be nationals of the target countries and currently residing in Africa. Moreover, they should demonstrate strong motivation and potential to influence gender responsive and climate resilient research. Applicants must also be proficient in English or French.
Fellowship Benefits
Selected Fellows will participate in a structured mentoring program where they will be paired with both a mentor and a mentee. Participants will also receive training in leadership and negotiation, gender integration in climate adaptation, science communication, and research publishing. The program draws inspiration from the AWARD Fellowship Model. Furthermore, it connects Fellows with the broader AWARD network and alumni community.
