CALL FOR YOUTH VERIFICATION AMBASSADORS – ILORIN, KWARA STATE

As Nigeria prepares for the 2027 General Elections, the need for accurate, credible, and verified information has become increasingly critical. In response to this, the Advocacy for Youth and Vulnerable Development Initiative (AYVDi), with support from the Digital Democracy Innovation in Sub-Saharan Africa Fund (DDISA), is inviting applications from qualified young individuals for the Youth Verification Ambassador Programme in Ilorin, Kwara State.

This initiative, under the campaign #CheckBeforeYouShare: Combating Election Misinformation in the Ilorin Community, aims to empower young people with the knowledge and tools required to tackle election-related misinformation and promote responsible digital engagement within their communities.

Programme Overview:
Selected Youth Verification Ambassadors will receive hands-on training in fact-checking, election misinformation detection, digital literacy, and responsible online communication. Participants will also be equipped with community mobilisation skills to enable them to effectively engage with local populations. Ambassadors will play a key role in connecting community members to the project’s WhatsApp Election Verification Hub, thereby strengthening access to verified information.

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must:

• Be between the ages of 18 and 35 years
• Be residents of Ilorin, Kwara State
• Demonstrate a strong interest in democracy, civic engagement, and digital literacy
• Show the ability to engage both online and offline communities
• Remain neutral and unbiased in electoral matters
• Be available and committed throughout the project duration (August – October 2026)

• Gain valuable skills in digital literacy and fact-checking techniques
• Receive a stipend during the programme
• Join a growing network of youth champions promoting information integrity
• Receive a certificate of participation upon successful completion
