Overview
Sparrow is a high-tech, high-touch employee leave management solution dedicated to transforming the often inefficient leave management process. The Clinical Operations Manager will establish clinical operations within the Customer Experience team, bringing consistency and rigor to evaluating medical certifications that support leave requests.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end clinical review of medical certifications submitted in support of leave requests.
- Oversee daily clinical operations, including intermittent leave analysis and extension evaluations.
- Manage the medical certification team, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
- Serve as the clinical escalation point for disputed certifications.
- Support cross-functional execution across Product, Legal, Compliance, and CX.
- Resolve operational issues and remove bottlenecks in clinical reviews.
- Build and improve operational workflows and update documentation standards.
- Manage operational systems and reporting to maintain audit readiness.
- Own clinical consistency and compliance oversight for the function.
- Meet regularly with department leaders to align on operational priorities.
- Set performance standards and design training curricula for clinical reviewers.
- Develop and facilitate ongoing education for the Leave Specialist team.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and state paid-leave/disability laws.
- 3+ years of experience in disability or leave-of-absence clinical review.
- RN license preferred; significant utilization review experience may be considered.
- Direct experience managing a care team with expertise in leave administration.
- 3+ years of people management experience.
- Experience in designing or standardizing operational workflows or training programs.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and building new functions.
- Certified Case Manager (CCM) credential is a plus.
Benefits
Competitive compensation ranging from $111,250-$159,500 based on experience and state of residence. Additional benefits include a supportive work environment in a diverse team.
