Overview
This position offers an opportunity to contribute to impactful humanitarian and development initiatives that support communities affected by armed conflict and natural disasters.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement communication and visibility plans aligned with donor requirements and ZOA branding standards.
- Produce compelling and ethical communication materials.
- Capture and edit photographs and short videos from field activities.
- Maintain organised digital archives with proper permissions and metadata.
- Support management teams with presentations, messaging, and communication products.
- Coordinate with the global communications unit to ensure consistency and quality.
- Draft press releases and facilitate media interviews and field visits.
- Build relationships with media stakeholders.
- Support public-facing events and stakeholder engagements.
- Ensure compliance with donor visibility guidelines with implementing partners.
- Provide communication inputs for donor and programme reports.
- Promote feedback and complaint mechanisms.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related discipline.
- At least three years of experience in communications within the humanitarian or development sector.
- Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Canva, or related design software.
- Understanding of Uganda’s refugee response context is an added advantage.
Benefits
The role is offered on a one-year renewable contract with a gross salary of UGX 2,000,000 per month.
Location
The Communications Officer will be based at the Kampala Country Office with frequent travel to rural field locations.
