    Overview

    Médecins Sans Frontières is hiring a Community Health Educator in Maiduguri, Borno State. The role involves preparing and delivering health education sessions, promoting hygiene and disease prevention, supporting MSF programs, and strengthening community engagement.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare and deliver health education sessions on hygiene, disease prevention, and health services
    • Inform patients and caretakers about health-related issues and MSF programs
    • Conduct community health monitoring, including nutritional screening, vaccination checks, and tracking births and deaths
    • Identify medical concerns and liaise with medical teams for referral
    • Conduct home visits, defaulter tracing, and community mapping
    • Participate in mass vaccination campaigns, seasonal outreach, and community-based surveillance
    • Organize meetings and capacity-building sessions with community leaders and key groups
    • Collect community feedback, rumors, and concerns to inform program adaptation

    Requirements

    • Education: Bachelor’s in Health Education, Diploma in Community Health, or a relevant degree
    • Experience: Minimum 2 years in a similar role
    • Languages: Fluent in English, Hausa, and Kanuri; knowledge of Shuwa, Fulani, or Ngamargu is a plus
    • Competencies: Results-oriented, team player, flexible, committed, and able to manage stress
