Médecins Sans Frontières is hiring a Community Health Educator in Maiduguri, Borno State. The role involves preparing and delivering health education sessions, promoting hygiene and disease prevention, supporting MSF programs, and strengthening community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and deliver health education sessions on hygiene, disease prevention, and health services
Inform patients and caretakers about health-related issues and MSF programs
Conduct community health monitoring, including nutritional screening, vaccination checks, and tracking births and deaths
Identify medical concerns and liaise with medical teams for referral
Conduct home visits, defaulter tracing, and community mapping
Participate in mass vaccination campaigns, seasonal outreach, and community-based surveillance
Organize meetings and capacity-building sessions with community leaders and key groups
Collect community feedback, rumors, and concerns to inform program adaptation

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s in Health Education, Diploma in Community Health, or a relevant degree
Experience: Minimum 2 years in a similar role
Languages: Fluent in English, Hausa, and Kanuri; knowledge of Shuwa, Fulani, or Ngamargu is a plus
Competencies: Results-oriented, team player, flexible, committed, and able to manage stress
