Overview
The Conservation Futures Internship is a paid, full-time opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in conservation, sustainability, and community engagement within South Africa’s Kruger to Canyons landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with land and ecosystem restoration (e.g., planting, rangeland rehabilitation).
- Conduct wildlife monitoring, tracking, and ecological data collection.
- Support sustainable land and resource management initiatives.
- Engage with local landowners, farmers, and community groups.
- Support workshops, meetings, and outreach activities with communities.
- Document conservation initiatives as they align with community needs.
- Assist with data collection and organisation for knowledge sharing.
- Participate in professional development activities including mentorship sessions.
Requirements
- Enrolled at Arizona State University.
- Studying or have studied conservation, environmental science, community development, or related fields.
- Strong interest in applied conservation.
- Willingness to live and work in rural environments.
- Cultural awareness, teamwork, and adaptability are essential.
- Prior fieldwork or community engagement experience is preferred.
- Backgrounds in ecology, natural resource management, or communications advantageous.
- Familiarity with Southern African contexts is a plus.
