Customer Reliability Engineer - Airflow @Astronomer

Overview

Astronomer is seeking a Customer Reliability Engineer specializing in Apache Airflow to provide expertise to customers and enhance their use of the managed Airflow service. This remote role is an opportunity to learn directly from leaders in the Airflow project.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop expertise in Airflow, Kubernetes, and cloud engineering.
• Solve complex Airflow issues for customers, optimizing configurations and identifying bugs.
• Engage in side projects contributing to Astronomer's success, including open-source contributions.
• Collaborate with data engineers, system admins, and management of customer organizations.
• Own customer experiences and assist with prioritizing and resolving issues.
• Maintain 24x7 coverage during a specified 6-hour pager period and participate in paid weekend on-call rotation.

Requirements

• Background in Data Engineering.
• 4 years of experience with Python.
• 1 year of experience in Airflow administration and DAG creation.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, or other container technologies.
• Experience with distributed systems on cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and independently.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience mentoring junior team members.

Benefits

The estimated total compensation for this role ranges from $125,000 - $130,000, including equity and a comprehensive benefits package.
