Data Scientist II, Infrastructure @Pinterest

Overview

Pinterest is seeking a Data Scientist to join its Infrastructure Data Science team. The role involves partnering with engineering and cross-functional teams to improve the measurement, understanding, and optimization of Pinterest’s infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Define, measure, and enhance the health, quality, and efficiency of infrastructure systems in collaboration with engineering teams.
• Build and refine metrics, dashboards, and analytical frameworks to make complex technical systems understandable and actionable.
• Improve data foundations by auditing data quality and contributing to measurement improvements.
• Design and analyze experiments to quantify the impact of infrastructure changes on user experience and reliability.
• Translate ambiguous technical problems into clear analyses and actionable recommendations.
• Support investigations related to infrastructure performance, reliability, cost, and measurement quality.
• Identify opportunities to optimize infrastructure measurement across domains.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Statistics, Applied Math, Biostatistics, or equivalent experience.
• Strong SQL and analytical programming skills.
• Experience contributing to production-ready data pipelines and measurement systems.
• Solid foundation in experimentation, with ability to conduct rigorous analyses.
• Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to various stakeholders.
• Capable of operating independently and managing fast-paced work environments.
• Curiosity and a builder mindset towards improving systems and measurement foundations.
