Overview

The V-Dem Institute in Sweden is offering internship positions for Fall 2026, focusing on quantitative research and democracy studies. This internship provides hands-on experience in a leading global democracy research project.

Key Responsibilities

Coding and updating democracy indicators.
Contributing to dataset development (v14 update).
Supporting expert coding management.
Conducting data validation and quality checks.
Assisting in communicating research findings.
Supporting publications and reports.
Translating complex data into accessible content.
Contributing to public-facing research materials.

Requirements

Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program.
Must be enrolled in a credited internship course or participate in an Erasmus exchange for the entire internship period.
Demonstrate advanced fluency in English.
Prior coursework in quantitative research methods is encouraged.
Strong writing and communication skills are highly desirable.
Knowledge of Arabic, French, Portuguese, Spanish, or Russian is an asset.

Benefits

Unpaid. Interns must be able to financially support themselves. Interns will gain experience in dataset construction, coding, data analysis, and report writing.

In-person at the V-Dem Institute, University of Gothenburg, Sweden.
