    Overview

    The Desk Officer position is a fixed-term, full-time opportunity designed as an 8-month short-term cover within a global humanitarian organization. The role may require travel to various programme countries, acting as a central coordination point between headquarters and country teams.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Supports the design, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of country programmes.
    • Reviews and provides feedback on project documents, including proposals and reports.
    • Ensures quality and consistency in programme documentation and reporting.
    • Facilitates staff training and workshops.
    • Contributes to the development of country strategic plans.
    • Coordinates with internal departments to resolve field queries.
    • Contributes to strengthening the organization’s global funding portfolio.
    • Maintains accurate grant records within the Grant Management System (GMS).
    • Assists in financial management for assigned countries.
    • Participates in recruitment processes and promotes best practices in health and safety.
    • Contributes to internal and cross-organizational working groups.
    • Generates reports to support decision-making by senior leadership.

    Requirements

    • Minimum of three years’ experience in an NGO or similar organization in a humanitarian context.
    • Degree-level education, preferably in a related field.
    • Strong written and spoken English proficiency.
    • Demonstrated experience in proposal development and donor reporting.
    • Solid understanding of donor requirements.
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
