Director, Platform Engineering @SingleStore

Overview

The Director of Platform Engineering at SingleStore will lead teams and technologies that power the company's internal engineering platforms, infrastructure services, and developer experience. The role involves building and operating systems that enable engineers to develop, test, secure, deploy, and operate software reliably at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Platform Engineering organization responsible for developer infrastructure, CI/CD systems, release engineering, internal cloud platforms, infrastructure automation, and engineering productivity tooling.
• Own and operate core infrastructure services, including identity and access management, VPN and secure remote access, IP address management, internal DNS, and cloud networking infrastructure.
• Drive the evolution of scalable developer platforms and CI/CD systems to improve engineering velocity, build reliability, and operational consistency.
• Champion infrastructure-as-code, automation frameworks, and AI-assisted operational tooling to enhance scalability and reliability.
• Establish best practices for observability, incident response, capacity planning, security, platform reliability, and infrastructure lifecycle management.
• Partner with Engineering, Security, SRE, and IT leadership to align platform capabilities with organizational priorities.
• Build, mentor, and grow high-performing platform and infrastructure engineering teams.
• Define and execute the long-term roadmap for internal engineering platforms and operational tooling.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, DevOps, SRE, or related fields, including 5+ years leading engineering or infrastructure organizations.
• Experience designing, operating, and scaling engineering platforms and infrastructure services in multi-cloud environments.
• Technical expertise in multi-cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure), CI/CD systems, infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible), and Linux systems administration.
• Operational experience managing critical infrastructure services, including Keycloak, FreeIPA, and secure remote access infrastructure.
• Understanding of infrastructure lifecycle management, operational processes, and engineering scalability.
• Ability to build operational processes that improve reliability, security, scalability, and engineering efficiency.
• Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management for aligning infrastructure strategy with engineering and business priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading Platform Engineering organizations in high-growth cloud-native companies.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Terraform, and similar tooling.
• Experience with AI-assisted automation in infrastructure operations or CI/CD systems.
• Proficiency in Python or Go for infrastructure automation.
• Cloud architecture or infrastructure certifications (AWS/GCP/Azure).
