    Overview

    Render is building a modern cloud platform for developers focused on creating AI-native, full-stack applications. The Engineering Manager for Postgres will lead a team of engineers to build and maintain the Render Postgres product, ensuring high-quality, scalable systems are developed for users throughout the world.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead and grow a team of Postgres engineers through mentorship and technical guidance.
    • Drive execution on key product initiatives from ideation through launch, balancing speed with reliability and quality.
    • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Infra teams to translate customer needs into technical solutions.
    • Engage in technical discussions, guiding system design decisions and navigating architectural tradeoffs.
    • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement in engineering practices.
    • Break complex problems into incremental milestones that deliver quick value while supporting long-term evolution.
    • Ensure a strong understanding of the developer experience and customer impact of features built.
    • Partner with product management and internal teams to align priorities and deliver impactful features.

    Requirements

    • 8+ years of engineering experience with a focus on products that impact business and product ecosystems.
    • 2+ years of experience managing teams, including hiring and performance management.
    • Strong technical background capable of engaging in system design and architecture discussions.
    • Product-oriented mindset with experience in translating business goals into engineering roadmaps.
    • Ability to balance urgency with quality in product execution.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
    • Strong ownership and accountability for team outcomes.
