Engineering Manager & Product Lead, Float Intelligence @Float

Overview

Float is hiring an Engineering Manager & Product Lead to oversee and accelerate Float Intelligence, integrating technical foundations, data, and product experiences. This role is essential for advancing AI finance solutions for Canadian businesses.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, grow, and develop a small team of product engineers and data/ML engineers.
• Own the roadmap for Float's AI experiences alongside the Head of Product.
• Take AI products from zero to one, transitioning from exploratory proofs of concept to customer-facing experiences.
• Make critical technical decisions: model and LLM approach, evaluation design, and infrastructure for scale.
• Build shared platform layers for extraction, evaluation, observability, and data pipelines.
• Equip internal product teams with AI models and engines necessary for their projects.
• Collaborate with product managers to ensure successful integration and ownership of AI experiences.
• Identify and discontinue non-viable exploratory work swiftly.

Requirements

• 7+ years in software engineering, with experience at a company with a strong engineering culture.
• 2+ years of management experience with diverse engineering teams.
• Hands-on experience in building AI or LLM-backed products for real users.
• Experience in 0→1 product development or founding a software business.
• Understanding of AI product mechanics in production, including evaluation and infrastructure.
• Strong product instincts to manage a roadmap effectively.
• Ability to work collaboratively across teams without formal authority.
• Preferred: Experience in fine-tuning models, data science, or ML engineering backgrounds.
