Engineering Manager, Revenue @Discord

Overview

Discord is seeking a highly technical, hands-on, and empathetic Engineering Manager to lead one of their full stack squads in the Revenue organization. This role is key to delivering valuable premium experiences for users while driving company revenue.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Product, Design, Data Science, Marketing, 3P Partnerships, and UX Research) to drive the team’s vision and roadmap.
• Lead a team of engaged full stack engineers by hiring, coaching, and instilling best practices.
• Utilize technical expertise to make tradeoffs, ensuring scalable design solutions and high-quality product delivery.
• Foster a culture that drives impactful results and delights end users.
• Set a strong pace for the team by encouraging quick shipping, iteration, and timely decisions in ambiguous problem spaces.
• Make informed decisions about resourcing and communicate rationale clearly to stakeholders and team members.
• Partner with organizational leaders on strategic planning to enhance the Engineering organization and uphold workplace philosophy.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer.
• 2+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager.
• Strong collaboration skills with product managers, designers, data scientists, and other engineers to develop effective business solutions.
• Passion for delivering a delightful experience to users and stakeholders.
• Motivated to help team members succeed with experience in growing engineers.
• Comfortable with code, remaining an engineer even if coding isn’t done regularly.
• Ability to address and resolve obstacles collaboratively.

Bonus Points

• Understanding of the gaming industry.
• Experience in growth-focused teams, particularly in revenue generation or product monetization.
• Track record of measurable impact through experimentation and data-driven decision making.
• Familiarity with the full lifecycle of consumer products including user attraction, engagement, retention, and monetization.
• Prior experience as a Discord user with an understanding of core features.

Benefits

The US base salary for this full-time position ranges from $248,000 to $341,000 plus equity and benefits.

Location

This position is remote, with no formal requirement to work from the office.
