The Uganda Public Health Fellowship Program (UPHFP) has announced 10 new fellowship positions under its Field Epidemiology Track, marking a continued effort to strengthen Uganda’s public health workforce through hands-on, service-based training.
The program is implemented through a collaboration between the Ministry of Health (MoH), Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH), and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US CDC). It is housed under the Uganda National Institute of Public Health (UNIPH).
The initiative is designed to develop skilled public health professionals capable of responding to real-time health challenges across the country while building long-term leadership capacity within Uganda’s health system.
The Field Epidemiology Track is structured as a two-year, full-time training-through-service program. Fellows spend the majority of their time working directly on public health assignments, supported by structured academic learning and mentorship.
