Overview
This position offers an opportunity to support financial operations as a Finance Assistant for Malaria Consortium in Sokoto State, Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities
- Review financial transactions for completeness, accuracy, and proper approvals.
- Prepare payment vouchers with correct coding and classification.
- Process payment schedules for staff, training participants, and consultants.
- Maintain financial records and journals using Excel templates.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Monitor stock levels of financial documents.
- Track vendor invoices and ensure timely processing.
- Prepare invoice payments and obtain necessary approvals.
- Scan, file, and archive finance documents systematically.
- Ensure proper documentation and easy retrieval of financial records.
- Assist during audits by providing required documentation.
- Support asset verification and spot checks.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the finance team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year post-graduation experience, including at least 6 months in a finance or accounts support role.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of donor-funded project financial requirements.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Experience working with an INGO (desirable).
- Familiarity with accounting software (desirable).
