    Finance Assistant at WACSI Node Nigeria (Resource Centre for Civil Society Development) – Abuja

    The Resource Centre for Civil Society Development, also known as WACSI Node Nigeria, is inviting applications from qualified and motivated candidates for the position of Finance Assistant. This role is based in Abuja, Nigeria, and offers a 16-month contract within a dynamic and impact-driven development environment.

    Established in 2022, WACSI Node Nigeria serves as a national capacity-strengthening hub dedicated to empowering civil society organisations across the country. Through initiatives such as training, knowledge exchange, policy engagement, and networking, the organisation supports CSOs in enhancing governance, sustainability, and development impact.

    The Finance Assistant will play a critical role in ensuring effective financial management, accountability, and compliance across programmes and operations. Reporting to the Country Lead, with technical oversight from the Finance Officer, the successful candidate will support budgeting, financial reporting, accounting processes, and audit coordination.

    Key responsibilities include collaborating with project teams to develop activity budgets, monitoring expenditures against approved budgets, and identifying financial risks. The role also involves managing daily accounting operations such as processing payments, reconciling bank accounts, maintaining financial records, and ensuring compliance with statutory obligations including PAYE, pensions, and withholding taxes.

    In addition, the Finance Assistant will prepare periodic financial reports in line with donor requirements, support internal and external audits, and maintain accurate and well-organised documentation in compliance with organisational standards.

    Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, along with 3–5 years of post-NYSC experience in accounting within the NGO or development sector. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (such as QuickBooks or similar ERP systems) is required. Candidates should also demonstrate sound knowledge of donor regulations (e.g., EU, FCDO, USAID), Nigerian tax laws, and nonprofit compliance standards.

    The ideal candidate will exhibit strong analytical skills, attention to detail, integrity, and the ability to work effectively under pressure while managing multiple tasks.
